Finding a cheap cell phone is a priority for many cell phone manufacturers, thus resulting in tough competition for customer attention. No longer do you need to pay large amounts for mobile phones that aren’t good for much more than making and receiving calls – cell phones are much smaller, more functional and affordable these days. The cell phone has indeed made an interesting evolution – from chunky to streamlined, from limited to full-featured, from high to relatively low-priced, and cell phone service providers and manufacturers are now in tough competition with one another.

Getting a cheap cell phone is a much easier process than it was about a decade or more ago, largely due to the abundance of cell phone service providers and manufacturers. Cell phone contracts, in general, allow one to upgrade his or her phone to a better model when the contract’s up. This option to upgrade is a great opportunity for you to look for a cheap – or even free – mobile phone that gives you your money’s worth and then some.

Just like in any other endeavor which involves a purchase, you would get the best results if you don’t settle for the first cheap deal at once – you may need to do some negotiation and shopping around. Oftentimes, promotions and deals come up when cell phone companies look to gain an edge or to gain new customers. Year end discounts and sales are a great source of cheap phones – since cell phone models change every year, you can get a great price if you purchase a certain model around November or December.

The most important thing to remember when looking for a good, low-priced cell phone is very simple and fundamental – always do your research before the purchase! Look for the cell phones that do not just come with low prices, but also good customer ratings and lots of features – you always want to get a phone that gives you more than your money’s worth.

The cellular phone is not just today’s communication device, but also that of the future, due to its ever-changing technology. And as time passes, models and prices would likewise change. You will need to be aware of two things when shopping for affordable mobile phones – the changes in technology and the changes in pricing.

The BlackBerry Torch is finally here, and first impressions are overwhelmingly positive. Nevertheless, we’re gadgeteers, and our satisfaction won’t last long. Now that we’ve got in in our hands, it’s immediately time to start thinking about all those accessories. Which ones are the perfect choices to protect and individualize our Torches? Read on, and find out.

Our first order of business is cases. Are you amazed at how many are on the market? There were a large amount of cases out for purchase before the phone even came out. Talk about overkill. We’ve had our hands full testing all of those options, and while we’re not done yet, we do have a couple of current favorites. First one to mention is the Koskin leather case, and another is the Krusell Multidapt horizontal leather pourch. Both of these models have belt clips but we prefer the Koskin when you want to wear it on your belt. It sits perfectly all while providing complete protection and being stylish and durable. Krusell’s pouch is horizontal, and if we’ve found it to be a little awkward for belt wear. However, it is our case of choice for those who carry their phone around in a purse or briefcase.

Like myself, the majority of the BlackBerry Torch owners would rather prefer the slip-on style covers, opposed to the heavier, thicker cases. While hard, rubber, and to a lesser extent leather, cases provide more overall protection, we prefer the slip-ons as well when we’re working at home or around the office. Our current favorite is the ZAGG Invisible Shield, which we have found to be the best combination of slim and protection. I’m sure many of you will be surprised to how hard the cover is, because it sure did surprise us A phone with the Invisible Shield survived drops that shattered unprotected units. The one downside to this type cover is that it doesn’t protect dings and nicks around the edges as well as full cases do.

but of course the most vital accessory for the Torch is the charger, and while there is an impressive array of chargers and desktop chargers on the market, we opted for the OEM edition in both cases, which surprised us. For desktop use, BlackBerry makes a super-convenient pod that they price at less than $30, and which lets you actually use the device while it is mounted. For travel purposes, we prefer the BlackBerry OEM micro-USB charger, which is small, lightweight, and simply gets the job done for less than $15.

Well, those are our top picks, but not the only ones that we liked. We simply lacked the space to include them all. One example is the Gadget Guard body film kit, which some buyers may prefer to the Invisible Shield. Another is the Endo GRT case, which provides a nifty internal skeleton. And here’s some advice: if you buy the micro-USB charge, also buy the adapter that converts any outlet to a USB charging port. They’re inexpensive, and you might be surprised at just how often you use it

The HTC Incredible is a beautiful smart phone with features you should be taking advantage of. And if you’re going to invest so much money on this phone, you should make sure that it is protected against damage and ready to use when you need it. With a name like Incredible, shouldn’t this phone have the appropriate accessories to uphold the name? Here’s a suggestion list of HTC Incredible accessories to get you started.

1. HTC Incredible Case Everyone has their klutz moment, and you should make sure that yours does not destroy your phone. In addition to being an effective cover for the screen and hardware, a case can also be a great way to personalize your phone and make it yours. If you need to be in business mode and disguise the Incredible, consider a black leather case with a belt clip. Or if you’re a little more fashion-forward, there are hard plastic snap-on cases with designs to suit your every mood.

2. Extended-life battery A battery’s life doesn’t last forever on a phone, no matter how long it is. Obtain a replacement or spare battery in case of emergencies where you need that extra time to finish a movie or game. Consider something like a High Performance 3000mAh Extended Li-Ion Battery, which even includes an extended back battery door because of the larger size.

3. Bluetooth headset If you have the feature, why not use it? There are Bluetooth headsets available in any color and different sizes. There are even options built-in to motorcycle helmets if you need to take a call on the road or communicate hands-free with others.

4. Hands-free car mount Safety should always come first, and there are even many states that mandate hands-free phones while driving. If your car has hands-free capabilities, you should consider a car mount that can cradle the phone while driving. Many will also provide outlets to charge the phone while driving as well.

5. HTC Incredible Desktop cradle If you’re balancing half a dozen electronics with chargers, then your desk can probably get chaotic at times. Rather than messing with the cords, set up a desktop cradle for the Incredible and you’ll know where it is docked at all times.

I like the Samsung Vibrant because of its magnificent four inch AMOLED display, its sleek and modernistic design, and its rich variety of entertainment. The four inch display is simply a marvel to look at. I have never seen a display that was so life like on a smart phone; the amount of detail visible on the screen is nothing short of amazing. And because it's anti reflective, if I want to watch a video a friend sent me, or play a game I've been trying to beat, or even just sit down and have a good read, I can do any of these things whether I'm indoors or outdoors in bright sunlight. And thanks to the wide variety of Samsung Vibrant screen protectors available online or in stores, I can carry my Vibrant with me and enjoy the beautiful display without worrying about it getting damaged in my pocket or while on the go.

I like the Samsung Vibrant because of its beautiful four inch AMOLED display, its sleek and modernistic design, and its rich variety of entertainment. The four inch display is simply a marvel to look at. I have never seen a display that was so life like on a smart phone; the amount of detail visible on the screen is nothing short of amazing. And because it’s anti reflective, if I want to watch a video a friend sent me, or play a game I’ve been trying to beat, or even just sit down and have a good read, I can do any of these things whether I’m indoors or outdoors in bright sunlight. And thanks to the wide variety of Samsung Vibrant screen protectors available online or in stores, I can carry my Vibrant with me and enjoy the beautiful display without worrying about it getting damaged in my pocket or while on the go.

The second reason I like the Samsung Vibrant is because of its sleek and modernistic design. The Vibrant has a lightweight build and an attractive look. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a slimmer smart phone. Its thin, light, and attractive design makes me want to take it everywhere with me, and whenever I show it off in public, I attract viewers. I’ve never thought about a phone as a fashion accessory before, but with my Vibrant, I realize I’m holding something stylish in my hands, and so do all of my friends.

And thanks to the wide variety of Samsung Vibrant accessories available online or in stores, if there’s anything I need for my Vibrant, such as a case to keep it from getting scratched while I use it, I can purchase accessories to ensure my Vibrant continues to look sleek and modernistic.

The third reason I like the Samsung Vibrant is because of its extensive offerings for entertainment and creativity. I had no idea that every Vibrant came with a copy of Avatar, the blockbuster that rocked theatres and broke records just a few months ago. Now I can watch it whenever I want, thanks to my Vibrant! And every movie I watch will be available with a spectacular 3D sound system inside the phone.

And when I don’t feel like watching movies, I can put on The Sims 3 Mobile Edition, which also comes with every Vibrant. Or if I feel like reading something, there are potentially 600,000 different books I can choose from in Amazon’s Marketplace, thanks to the Amazon Kindle application that comes with Android and my Vibrant. And thanks to the wide variety of Samsung Vibrant batteries available online or in stores, I can take my Vibrant with me everywhere I go, safe with the knowledge that I will be able to replace the battery if it dies while I am in the middle of enjoying one of the many entertainment features that come with the Vibrant.

With the release of a great phone, you’ll need Samsung Vibrant accessories, please visit Think Mobile Solutions and choose the best Samsung Vibrant screen protectors for your needs.

We’ve all seen them, and some of us may even own one-a cell phone that has numerous capabilities beyond a normal phone. Some may contain cameras, games, internet access, blue tooth devices, speakerphone, and even video recorders, which enable its users to create mini home movies. What is the purpose of all of all these capabilities, and are they really necessary? Well of course, there are opposing opinions about this.

Some people are old-school, meaning they aren’t really into all the latest technology. They may not see the necessity in having a blue tooth device attached to their cell phone, or the ability to access the internet from it. They may have a very simple mobile phone that has the minimal amount of abilities because their needs don’t require them to buy all the extras.

These people may feel that people who are willing to pay hundreds of dollars for a simple device are ridiculous and are wasting their money. If they want to access the internet, then they can just do it the usual way-by using a computer.

Most people, of course, wouldn’t live without their cell phones and all the extras. They relish making mini home movies of their families and friends, and they enjoy the convenience of the ability to multitask with the addition of the blue tooth wireless device. Let’s face it: Many people lead busy lives and they may not have the time to do the things that other people do.

Like take the time to sit at a computer to check email or they may have the need to clean out their desk as well as talk to a client simultaneously. Holding a traditional cell phone between their ear and shoulder, and may cause neck cramping and pain, but with the use of the handy new blue tooth devices, multitasking is easy and hassle-free.

The Ericsson phone company was one of the founding fathers of the mobile industry back in the day, but it wasn't until their partnership with one of the world's largest electronics manufacturers that they started to make the kind of phones that mobile customers were demanding. Today, Sony Ericsson have become renowned for some of the best looking and feature-packed phones on the market, but is Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 one of them, and can it compete in the competitive smartphone market?

Ericsson have been making mobile phones for about as long as the industry has been around, but it wasn’t until the Sony-Ericsson brand was developed that they started to see real success in what has become an incredibly competitive market. Their partnership with the Japanese electronics company has developed a range of popular phones, for users who wanted a phone that was also a great camera and music player. But with the demand for smarter phones, how does the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 fair?

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10’s large 4 inch screen is one of the things that makes the phone stand out from the others on the market. The clear, bright display makes normal phone functions clear and easy to see, but you’ll appreciate it most when you’re browsing the internet, watching movies and taking pictures with the excellent camera.

Consumers have come to expect great cameras in Sony Ericsson’s phones, and the Xperia X10 doesn’t disappoint. You can capture still photos or video in incredible 8MP clarity, and while the camera software is quite simplistic, you can adjust the key settings, and use the LED flash, to make sure that you get great shots every time. Easy to use and producing great photos, the Xperia camera is one of the best mobile phone cameras on the market.

Users can customize their home screens and a range of other features as you would expect, although the mix of Sony Ericsson and Google’s Android interface might take a bit of getting used to. The Xperia X10 is another great Sony Ericsson music phone, and the other features that smart phone users demand are all present as well, including GPS and the ability to use the X10 on wireless networks.

The sleek looks of the phone are not spoilt by the necessary buttons, which are tucked out of the way but easily found when needed, and simple enough to use. Sony Ericsson have spent a lot of time and effort looking at how they can make their phones more ergonomic, and the overall shape of the X10 is a product of this research. This makes the phone comfortable to hold, and gives it the looks to compete the other smartphones you can buy.

With great looks and packed full of the kind of features that leave some competitors embarrassed, it looks like Sony Ericsson may have come up with a smartphone worth considering alongside the Apples, HTCs and Blackberrys of this world. But with its impressive screen, powerful camera and quality music capability, some mobile users will find it may have more to offer them.

The Motorola Milestone XT720 is actually the newer version of the modified Motorola Milestone, which whilst an impressive feature-packed smartphone, wasn't as well-received as hoped because of the slide out keyboard. Relaunched as the same feature-packed smartphone, but this time with more market-friendly touchscreen, and a few millimeters thinner, can the Milestone XT720 do better second time around?

Motorola has taken its original Milestone smartphone, ditched the slide out keyboard and some of the thickness and weight, and relaunched the feature-packed mobile as the Motorola Milestone XT720. Whilst there was nothing fundamentally wrong with the original Milestone, the market has moved on – keypads are out, and touchscreens are definitely in. So how does this new version of the Milestone compare with the other touchscreen smartphones?

The Motorola Milestone XT720 designers were obviously keen to improve on the old Milestone smartphone, without all the effort of a complete redesign. Removing the slide out keyboard allowed them to shed a few grams and millimeters, and just to give the new version it’s own identity, they also made a couple of other slight changes – so it looks and feels more like a new model. The result is a quality mobile phone, as you would expect from Motorola, although it might not be everyone’s idea of good looking.

The rather unique look to the phone is designed it seems, to highlight its camera credentials, and well it might blow its own trumpet – the new Milestone comes with an incredible 8 megapixel camera. But it’s not just the fact that this is larger than any of the other Android smartphones on the market that’s impressive. You also get face detection, image stabilization and multi-shot features, not to mention hi definition video capture.

The Motorola Milestone XT720 runs the 2.1 version of the Android operating system, which helps make the most of the phones features, as well as giving you access to the Android market and as many apps as you could want. As you would expect form Motorola’s flagship smartphone, you get the usual connectivity features such as 3G, the latest Bluetooth and WiFi. The phone also has GPS and an FM radio, but with all these features, the processor does sometimes get a little overwhelmed, and the performance can suffer. However, wishing that the phone was a little faster on occasions is a small price to pay for all the positives.

The feature that dominates the Motorola Milestone XT720 is the excellent 8 megapixel camera and its associated features. Everything else is as you would expect for a smartphone from one of the leading manufacturers, so all in all the revamped Milestone is a serious contender in the market. It might not have the processing power to challenge the heavy weights like Apple, Google and HTC, but Motorola fans will be more than happy to overlook this tiny misgiving in favor of a combined smartphone package that is one of the best on the market.

The Ooma Telo handset is a device that goes with the Ooma base station. Its purpose is for allowing customers of the Ooma voice over IP system to take their conversations in and around the home. Although not perfect, this gadget complements the system quite well.

The handset retails for about $50 in most areas. It is about par with other handsets considering the price, but also has unique features you won’t find with other handsets. It’s these features that offset some of the shortcomings of the device. Some, like the one-touch voice mail button, can save a lot of time in using the phone system.

The Ooma panel has a lot of good reviews for being so easy to use. One way to sync the contacts in your phone with the online contacts list is to simply press the sync button on the headset. This feature is only available on the Ooma headset, and not others. You will save time where you would otherwise have to manually type in names and numbers on the number pad- a tedious chore!

Ooma users get much more than just a phone. The Ooma headset also doubles over as an intercom system. So long as you have enough headsets and the required base station, you can contact other phones in the house much like you would a two-way system. It can also act as a baby monitor, which can go for $50 by itself. The Ooma headset is quite versatile in what it can do, and for the price, it’s astounding.

The speed of the device is likely the worst thing about the headset. It just doesn’t feel so responsive like a phone should. When cycling through contacts or features in the phone, you will notice that the lag period between pushing a button and seeing the phone react can be easily noticed. It doesn’t kill the phone entirely, but it’s definitely something the Ooma team should have seen and fixed before releasing the headset to the public.

When it comes to design, the Ooma again pleases. Another gripe would be that the LED on the base of the phone is always on, so long as the phone is charging. The LED is unnaturally bright and most users have mentioned they had to cover it up. Again, this is something the Ooma team should have seen and fixed beforehand. This also is not a game over for the Ooma headset, but can still be frustrating to deal with.

Closing Comments

Overall, the Ooma Telo handset is a great buy. Compared to other phones it might not have the speed and such, but it does make up for it with extra features that syncs to the online applications Ooma has developed.

HTC has been manufacturing smartphones for a number of years now, but it wasn't until they switched to building them based on the Android operating system, that they started to see the success that has made them one of the big names in the market. Having created the Legend and Google's Nexus One, HTC have now launched the HTC Desire. But what makes it better than the Legend, and as good as the Nexus One?

Adopting the Android operating system has been one of the main reasons for HTC’s recent success, and has lead to successful smartphones like the Legend, Google’s Nexus One, and now the HTC Desire. Originally manufacturing smartphones for other companies to sell as their own, HTC’s own brand is becoming more and more popular. So what has their latest entry into the smartphone market got to offer consumers?

The first thing that you notice about the HTC Desire is that is certainly has the appearance of a smartphone, with a well built look and feel and a nice big touchscreen. If you know your smartphones, you’ll probably also notice that it isn’t too dissimilar to the Nexus One. What differences there are a quite subtle, the Desire has a useful mix of touchscreen and clickable buttons, to give users the best of both worlds, and the Desire doesn’t have the Nexus One’s unibody construction, but it’s still well built and good to look at.

The HTC Desire complements its looks with top quality performance as well. The bright, clear images you see on the 3.7 inch AMOLED screen are delivered by a powerful 1GHz Snapdragon processor that can call on 512 MB of memory to make sure it’s able to handle just about any demands you place on it.

On the back of the HTC you’ll find the rather discreet 5 megapixel camera which also includes an LED flash, as well as autofocus, to help you get the best shots every time – and all in nice wide 5:3 format. There’s video capture on board as well, and although the HTC Desire doesn’t offer full 720p recording capabilities, it has a high enough resolution that means only the most demanding videographers would be disappointed.

HTC switched to the Android operating system in 2009 and this phone builds on what was a smart decision, offering the 2.1 version of the increasingly popular platform. On top of this, HTC have added their own Sense user interface, which makes navigating on the Desire easy and enjoyable. With additions to the Sense interface that include Friendstream, for putting all your social networking activity in one place, and Leap, which lets you view all your different home screens at once, the HTC Desire has got to be one of the most user-friendly smartphones available, which will only help its popularity.

With good looks, great technology and simple and enjoyable usability, there isn’t much you won’t like about the HTC Desire. A step up from the Legend, and more than a match for the Nexus One, the Desire can also take on any of the other smartphones in the market.
